Who is hiding in the gym? Discover Are You Team Rocket? (お前、もしかしてロケット団？), the official Pokémon board game from the Pokémon Bodoge Club range, a hidden-role game for 4 to 6 players that mixes Pokémon battles with bluffing and deduction.

Scheduled for release in Japan on 12 November 2026, the game takes place in a Pokémon Gym on the day a new Gym Leader arrives, and Team Rocket has secretly slipped in to take over. Published by The Pokémon Company and co-developed with YOKA Games, it is released during the 30th anniversary year of Pokémon.

Each player secretly plays a role, chooses a partner Pokémon among 60 different Pokémon cards and uses play cards to fight, dodge and hide their true identity.

Roles and Victory Conditions

• Gym Leader: the only role revealed at the start. Wins with the Gym Trainers when all Challengers and all Team Rocket members have been eliminated
• Gym Trainer: protects the Gym Leader and shares the Gym Leader's victory
• Challenger: wants to beat the Gym Leader and wins if the Gym Leader is defeated while other trainers remain in the game
• Team Rocket Member: hides in the group, eliminates everyone except the Gym Leader and finally defeats the Gym Leader

How the Game Works

• Everyone draws a secret role card, and the Gym Leader announces the role
• Each player is dealt 2 Pokémon cards and keeps 1 as a partner, with tips on which Pokémon suit each role
• Each player draws 4 play cards, the Gym Leader draws 2 cards and starts, and play goes counterclockwise
• When a Pokémon's HP reaches zero, another trainer can still save it with a healing item, otherwise the trainer is eliminated
• The basic rules start every Pokémon at level 3, and the box also includes more advanced rules for experienced players

60 Partner Pokémon in 5 Types

The 60 Pokémon cards are divided into five types according to their abilities: Attack (heavy damage), Defense (high durability), Balanced (versatile), Support (card draw and help effects) and Disruption (reduces the opponent's hand and options). Partner Pokémon revealed so far include Venusaur, Charizard, Blastoise, Pikachu, Kangaskhan, Marowak, Sandslash, Slowbro, Arcanine and Machamp. Each one has its own level, HP and abilities.

About the Game

The game was announced in July 2026 and presented with a TV commercial featuring Megumi Hayashibara, Shinichiro Miki and Inuko Inuyama, the Japanese voice actors of Team Rocket's Jessie, James and Meowth in the anime. YOKA Games is a Chinese board game publisher known for the card game Sanguosha. No English edition has been announced so far, so please note that the cards and rules are in Japanese.
